In addition to the tasks outlined in the other thread that are reasonably fun and will be needed long-term, there are a number of things that need to be pursued directly that are less interesting. Any staff member may ask to work on any part of these so long as they are proficient and check to see what has already been done on the subject.

AIM OF THE DEMO :

Full Hebrew and Philistine lists playable in custom battle.

    So what models are being used for Custodians, Israelite Swordsmen, and the Heroes?

    The Berbers might have a few that could be used for something.

    yeah, though if people complain of lag we might do "extra low" as well...

    I was thinking that custodians could use judean zealots/desert infantry, while swordsmen, heroes could use the lesser general.

    I had forgotten about bebers though, and BI in general adding new models...i would be interested except that it seems nobody has ever taken a screenshot of a berber and osted it >.<.

    Desert Infantry? Possibly. I wasn't really thinking like that.

    This is only quick, but this is more or less what I had envisioned for Custodians.


    But with a cloak, and maybe a veil over the lower face.


    As for the Berbers, I can take some shots if you like. Basically, it is a load of people in scarfs, veils and headdresses.

    So will the Heroes be single individuals with God-Awful stats? Or basically just an elite unit?

    heh, by heroes i meant generals.

    andalus I'm only talking about the .cas, not the texture; we won't be having cloth-clad wicker-wielding elites .

    the big difference is the shield, which i forgot was convex in the desert infantry and would want to make rectangular. The buckler is out too unless a researcher can tell us they used them.

    this was my original thought, modified slightly to include your pectoral concept (which i like a lot)



    So now we have two versions of the custodians, both of which I quite like .

    part of this process is that we'll end up making a lot of units that don't fit, or we'll have ideas that conflict like here, methinks that this is the best way to create new units, officers, rebels, and easter eggs .

    Only now I don't know which I prefer. But of course the choice is (And always has been) yours, SrJames. What do you reckon, Glorious Leader?

    ok, so make that 3 units that i like.

    choices will be diplomatic, so outside opinions would help.

    one thing that would need to change about your guy is that he needs a short-sleeve skirted base, right now he's got those creepy "skin-sleeves" :P

    Is there a way fo doing that without having to re-assing bones to all vertices? I know its explained in Prof's tutorials how to create new lods but i deleted the files and the link on the sites don't work...

    i just collapse vertices with the skin modifier still active, and then reposition (if necessary). there's a lot you can do without making more work for yourself and once you reduce it beyond that, the work you make is minimal because there's so few vertices left.

    Also, if anyone wants to play historian, there's the entire philistine list to consider, but i'm not as good at that. The hebrews are nice and straightforwards...philistines have to do a lot with a little (and have and army which mimics either the greeks or the assyrians depending on the account, never both...)

    For the sake of organization, i've moved discussion of the hebrew unit to the hebrew discussion thread. please continue it there .
