About Extended Cultures:
Extended Cultures (XC) is a RTW modification that aims to bring historical accuracy but also show how different factions could have evolved had history taken a different path, with an eye to fun and challenging gameplay. The mod is similar to vanilla in look and feeling but expands the original by bringing new factions, several reworked units and new buildings. In addition to this, a culture system that makes an unique use of RTW:BI features and a large set of new character traits that extensively helps in role-playing will ensure an unique feeling of diversity for many factions.
You can read more here.

XGM-XC contains 16 playable factions, and four non-playable factions. Fourteen factions are from vanilla (unmodified) RTW; the other six are new.
The new factions are:
Bactria (replaces Britons)
The Ptolemaic Empire (replaces Egypt)
Saba (replaces Dacia)
Roman Rebels (non-playable, replaces Romans (Scipii))
The Independent Greek City States (non-playable, replaces Romans (Brutii))
Eastern Kingdoms (non-playable, replaces Numidia)
And the Celts (non-playable, replaces Romans (Senate))

As is clear from the list, the Romans have been unified.

Extended Cultures will run on RTW 1.5, BI 1.6, or Alex.

Extended Cultures is a fully mod-foldered mod, which means you can install it along with other mod-foldered mods, such as Amazon: Total War. Extended Cultures' installer will automatically search for your copy of RTW; you may need to direct it to where you want however. The installer will install all of the files to the folder "xc" which it will create.

Current version is 4 Gamma.

Changes and Additions include:
Many updates to the map
New Governor units replace recruitable generals
Many changes to traits and ancillaries
Several new garrison scripts
Emergent Bactria and Parthia added to non-Senate campaign
Gaul now has loyalty with Celts as shadow faction

4 Gamma is not save compatible with 4 Beta.

You can install any new version on top of any previous version.

You can download the mod here.

And you can take a look at the read-me here.

This thread is for any questions or comments you may have.

Nothing definite, but you can expect it to keep on expanding and adding new features. Though, now that I have an installer, I can add some features, such as new units, that I was loathe to before since file size isn't an issue anymore.

I know this fellow over at TWC who is brilliant with traits and ancillaries, he's responsible for most the traits and ancillaries in XC. He has some more things planned, so you can definitely expect more in that area.

It's come to my attention that I made some mistakes with the installer for 3.0.2, so that it doesn't work for BI or Alex. I'll upload a fixed version shortly.

3.0.3 is now up, it should be fine for any exe.

I also switched a couple default options.

Fatigue is now turned on by default, you can choose to turn it off when you install.
Minimal borders are now default, you can choose to change to vanilla style borders when you install.

No, it means that legionary first cohorts have a name based on where you recruit them, similar to BI. (Though this feature is present no matter what exe you use.)

So for example, the unit could be called something like "Legio I Parthica" or "Legio V Fulminata"

Great mod by the way, I particularly like the army on the Romans southern borders doorstep! It gives the Romans a starting disadvantage, which i think was always needed as they are a strong faction from the start

Well, the named legions only apply to the Legionary First Cohort, which is recruitable from a fifth level barracks after the Marian Reforms occur. The name will show up on the unit card at the bottom of the screen, I believe (it's been a while since I've used the Romans.)

If you like the army near Cannae, Trodon, you ought to try the Epirus provincial campaign.

Hi all. So I have a problem with a Roman campaign. It's year 276BC (summer) and when I end my turn, it gets to the Roman Rebels turn and then suddenly crashes - everytime. I have tried saving before I end my turn, moving other units around (worked in the past funny enough!). Even using a cheat before ending the turn but it crashes everytime. I have fought some great battles on this turn and don't very want to start again! Does anyone have a reason or theory to why this is happening? And hopefully, have a way I can sort the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Plus anything else you think might be important.

Hi, I run the game using the BI exe, and selected that option when installing your mod - the others I selected were Land Bridges and the reduce AI bonuses. Rome is version 1.5 & BI is v1.6. And yes I was on 3.1.1 of your mod.

I have since re-installed Rome & BI (plus updates to above said versions) because there were many mods that I have used in the past that may have caused the problem plus I re-installed your mod using your update. Now, I'm not sure if saved games are compatiable but once this was all done - I transferred the saved game of the Roman campaign and still the problem occurs

Hope that helps, let me know if you need anything else you need & I'll try and provide it.

Thanks Caesar

Did you add a garrison script to Syracuse, I was playing with Carthage and the senate told me to get Syracuse, so I besieged it and next turn they have Syracusan hoplites together with Phalangites I had to break the seige and move back, they still attacked me but I took care of them and now the Senate looks like it will kick the bucket because Phyrros is coming over after taking Croton with a full stack.

Right, well if you start a campaign on 3.1.7 or .8 those things should be fixed.

For those who have no idea what we're talking about:
Starting in XGM-XC 3.1.6, there is an option to convert the game to include a Carthaginian senate. This works mostly the same as in vanilla RTW. This option is fully playable, but still in an alpha stage, and soon will move to a beta stage.
