They've certainly showed more off at E3 than I was expecting.
It looks beautiful. Not sure I'm a huge fan of the unit cards yet but that is my only gripe really. Hopefully the naval battles are a little bit more fun because they became really dull an monotonous in Shogun 2, I found myself auto resolving almost all of them.
The Interface looks really good; minimalistic and not in the way. When taking screenshots for AARs it can be a pain in the ass to remove it. Hopefully they've done the same by removing the floating logos for capture points in cities to allow for a more cinematic experience, nothing worse in Shogun 2 than floating yellow discs above my towers.
On that campaign map it looks like the Romans and Parthian Empires are due for a clash. We can see there some of the regions with two factions controlling the provinces within. Still really interested to see how that actually works.
Capture points in battles; I'm all for it, bringing some diversity to what CA intend to be larger numbers of field battles, especially if it is a product of army stances. The "historical accuracy" horde is on crusade that it is too arcady, but how often did two armies fight to the death? It's usually over a piece of terrain. Hah.
Also guys, thankyou for being awesome. We only have a tiny community here, but I'd take it over the morons at TWC. There is literally zero intelligent discussion, just an overwhelming population of miserable goblins saying why the game is crap, why they won't buy the game, demanding answers from CA, all picking faults at stupid little details. Seriously, working in the Community Relations dept at CA must be a terrible job, having to pander to these lunatics. Is there even another developer on the planet who is subjected to this?
