Pontus provides a various amount of troops; using Greek hoplites and Pikes, Eastern type horsemen, Chariots, and ranged units; along with a unit similar to Roman Legionaires.
Typically you always want a core group of pikemen to use as the fulcrum of your army; with hoplites on the flanks and stacking one flank heavy with swordsmen. Theureos Speae are great for mobile operations for they throw javelins before engaging. Often I use them as my flanking forces with a mixture of slingers, javelinmen, and cavalary. Cavalry are best used in this formation, by engaging the ranged units picking at your pikemen and then wheeling around to hit the rear of those engaged with them. Heavy Ballistae are great too

Nice write up. And welcome to our forums!

You do know that you can write more than a single paragraph per post, yes? Feel free to do so. I find it easier to remember what I wrote (I can still see it) and go further from there until I run out of comments on a topic.

Then the new paragraph can start off in another direction. Nice!

Have you played RTW the original? Pontus has some good possibilities in that one as well- decent troops, mega trade possibilities and income, with only two or three real foes. One of them is Seleucia, bordering it on the other side of rebels, another could be Macedon or Egypt once they start rolling (I truly despise how fecund the Egyptian cities are). And of course, Rome once it gets moving.

On a pc, just hit the [Enter] button twice to skip a line and start a new paragraph.

I have a brick phone with no Android or Apple or Avocado internet, so I don't know how to make that happen on a phone, but I think the principle is the same.

Feel free to share any tips, ideas, strategies, or other game-related stuff here. For off-topic (non-game) stuff we have Red Lion Tavern. It is kind of quiet there now, but someone always pops by.
