Thanks for those comments. I enjoy documenting the game. It also changes the game play for me as Im constantly looking for things that are interesting to report.
The Greece swap with NobleNick is on hold a bit as we are both busy with other things. Its Nicks turn next to play and Im content to wait a long while for my turn to come around again. Nick has offerred me another go...but im enjoying this German campaign too much to volunteer for anything else right now.
As for advice on Greece for your own campaign. I recommend you concentrate on mainland Greece and later some islands. It would need good play to keep Sicilly. Try one of the forums that has a guide to the factions. Im sure ive seen several pages of advice on how to play Greece. Good luck.

This was tempting. For a modest sum I could own Denmark. I decided not to as Im keeping only the five regions I started with. It really was tempting though. I nearly did it with a promise not to develop or occupy it.
---World war has started. Egypt is the most powerful faction. The Romans are the next three most powerful.
---I had spotted this young Dacian general a few turns back. Sent my best diplomat and spent this big sum on bribing him over to my side.
My new general will be in battle this turn. He moves alone back towards my town. On the way he moves next to a Thracian stack. Ive got to gather the rest of my forces for the battle. It would be foolish to risk my new €13k general so soon. I select four infantry units from the garrison and move them up next to the Thracians.
Next I move the general from Trier to Mogontiacum. This is so his ancillaries can be traded to the commander of Mogontiacum. The governor of Mogontiacum with all the best combat ancillaries will then lead the attack on Thrace.
Incidentally. At Trier some cavalry retraining is going on. The best cavalry were used to top up the other cavalry unit. The depleted unit that now remains is the best...2gold. When retrained the whole unit will be 2gold still. You can see all the ancillery trading icons along the left. The highlighted general, plus the two cavalry units will now move up and attack from the square indicated.
Before he attacks he hires one mercenary unit. Not for its strength but to trigger the +2 infantry command bonus it will bestow via the Priest of Woden.
Here we go. Ive got my general up to 6*. Slightly better than the other guy.
The battle. The battlefield is not spectacular but is just the right size for this battle. Some troops start hidden in forest. Archers arrive in the centre, in plain view behind a spear wall and supportted by dogs. The two leaders will soon join up and already have a clear line around the flank into the Thracian rear.
Coming in at speed. The Thracian army reforms but will be too slow to stop the Generals taking out the artillery crew.
