As per everyone's votes, I will be documenting a Spanish campaign. It will be played on: Vanilla RTW VH/VH Huge Unit Scale Limited Ammo, Fatigue On, Morale On.
This will be my third AAR. For the first two, see my sig. As this will be my first time playing a complete campaign in a a long time, I won't impose any house rules.

Thank you, Zsmart one and Awesome Eagle , for following.
Sorry for the long delay folks. School has been hell lately. But at long last, here’s the promised sally, as well as subsequent action.
Caraunios sallies from Segesta. The Romans outnumber us 2:1, but Caraunios commands an all-cavalry army…
While the Romans only field worthless infantry.
All units are ordered to rush out the gate right away to engage the Romans as they shift towards a corner of the battle field.
Looks like these Round Shields are just stacked together.
Some Round Shields catch the last unit of Hastati, and one charge routs them. Due to the vast difference in Command Stars, we have a huge morale advantage.
Caraunios personally mows down another Hastati unit.
Here the Romans get too close to the city walls and are promptly shot down by the towers.
Our forces are split into two groups, and approach both flanks simultaneously.
The action starts up first on the Roman left flank.
Another unit is taken out.
With the right flank completely gone, the Roman center turns towards the right.
As the Romans march sideways towards their unknown destination, I order all cavalry units to charge.
A mass rout ensues.
Including the Roman general.
He goes down.
After that it was just mopping up the remains.
Heroic Victory.
A solid effort from all cavalry units.
I would like to use this opportunity to take Arretium, but I cannot count on one spy being able to open the gates. So I send a single infantry unit to lay siege.
To find out that the gates have not been opened.
Up north, Lucco the Conqueror’s army is attacked by the Germanians outside Mogontiacum. I will try to destroy the garrison and take the city in the same battle.
Heroic Victory. Unfortunately, the enemy General got away. In addition, look at how depleted my infantry units have become.
It looks like things are getting interesting in Greece.
Lucco’s army attacks another small Germanian field army outside Mogontiacum. The enemy general will not get away a second time.l
And he didn’t.
Lucco gains 4 Command Stars for a very average battle.
The town is occupied.
My first naval action.
Of course I lose with 1:1 odds.
I try again with a 2nd navy.
With 7 ships against 2, I still manage to lose a ship, while both pirate ships get away.
DUM DUM DUM!
Caraunios‘ s army lays siege yet again.
Lucco’s forces successfully ambushes a Germanian field army.
I deploy all infantry on one side and all cavalry on the other.
Charged from both flanks, these Spear Warband are still holding.
Not for long though!
Heroic Victory.
Caraunios’s army is attacked by yet another Julii army (seriously, how can they have so many troops?) This is probably my best chance to take Arretium.
Same as usual, cavalry split up and flank the enemy lines.
The first to go are Roman Equites.
Stationary Equites do not last very long at all.
A single Barbarian Cav merc unit sweeps around the entire Roman line and charges the Wardog unit in the back.
YES! The handlers rout without releasing the dogs.
The Roman general charges my infantry. Unfortunately all of my cavalry are on the other side of the Roman line. I hope these Sammites can hold the line for a couple of minutes.
Meanwhile, my infantry pick apart the last of the Roman infantry.
The Sammites held on admirably. Now the help is here.
And the Roman general is dead.
After dispatching the routers, our army forms up to face the reinforcements.
Both Roman generals charge my forces before I could get them into an ordered line.
Still, I had sheer weight of numbers on my side, and took care of one bodyguard unit within minutes. However, the general would get away to garrison the city.
The other general is not so lucky.
He’s gone.
Heroic Victory. One of the 2 survivors from the reinforcement army is the Roman general.
Winter, 257 BC
There he is, all by his lonesome. This is going to be tricky. If I lay siege, I will have to rely on my two spies to open the gates, otherwise the SPQR stack will come to relieve the siege after the end of the turn.
With the capture of Arretium on the horizon, I temporarily set Alesia as my capital. I desperately need Bull Warriors in Gaul.
Caraunios now have 9 chevrons, 10 Command Stars, and 10 Influence. All enemies will cower and quake at the sight of his awesomeness.
Stay tuned for the next update: the fall of Arretium.
I have all the total wars, and Rome is simply the best. Great AAR on a faction that I never really considered playing. Looks like you are doing well, even though managing meager finances in the beginning and a horrible unit roster. Way to go!
Using your general in combat and watching him work his way up to a legendary status is really satisfying. Rome and Medieval 2 did this the best way. Shogun 2 has the RPG element of choosing the skills you want for your general, which is cool too. But in Rome you get the quirky traits and the fun stuff, its great!

I often find a that a single dagger cutting a man's throat can often lead to his entire bodyguard vanishing, and leaving the city where he was sole defender now totally open to whoever marches in.
Maybe an idea for Arretium if you have a slayer nearby....
Excellent battles, Xing, though I do admit you spoil me. I expect such epic battles now.
Conga Rats on the Bulls!
I like that tactic of all cav on one side and all inf on the other. I must try that sometime.
Well done!
