I finally managed to get on online multiplayer but whenever i try to join a game it says failed to join game (GS) any one know how to get round that plz.

Are you sure the version you are using is 1,5 with no modifications? Sometimes with a mod installed (or any changes to the game made) it won't let you play.

Its 1.5 and has no mods on it

I think when you can't join any games like that, it's a server or connection problem. Only way to fix it is to either wait until the servers get better or get a better internet connection.

would people be able to join if i hosted it even if i cant join other peoples?

That does sometimes work, but if its a server issue then if anyone does successfully join, its most likely they'll kill your game. Aka A message will appear saying that XXX is not responding. WHat this means is A) You cant move on and actually play the game and B) Your game disappears from the lobby. If this happens you'll probably have to relog or restart Rome :/ The Gamespy multiplayer really doesnt seem that great
