I have been trying to install RTR for a few hours now, but it keeps telling me I don't have the proper patch, but when I try to patch it the patch says that it is not compatible with RTW: Gold

I think gold is already either 1.5 or 1.6. No update should be required.

Did you download the proper RTR for the patch that you have?

I remember RTR having different versions per patch, namely.

I dunno what it was, I just put it on my steam copy, and will keep my non-steam for multi.

Try starting over, and document what you do and when, including patches and versions.

We'll help you figure this out.

Rome Total War Gold edition does not actually require patches, it is already in version 1.6 so you don't need patches, plus you get BI with it as well.
