I have made quite a shocking(at least for me) discovery yesterday.I was playing seleucids and egyptians were beseiging my newly conquered Jerusalem.I thought I had time to reinforce it since it can last for 7 turns or so. But then the town revolted and my army was thrown form the city by rebels. So I got it out of egyptian enciclemet without significant casualties. Pretty unrealistic I think but worth knowing.

Ahhh ... Given the new logic of breaking the seige or death, (If the attacker assults and you lose even if you have units in battle all units are eliminated.) The feature allows an out when you assult a city and rout all the units but they hit the plaza and kill more of the attacker units.

I would propose that giving the defense a free ride under seige when the Rebels win is a bug that when discovered by our friends will be fixed.

I would believe the proper behavior is the Army is eliminated, and the Rebels are under seige.

Um...I recall simply walking out of the back gate of a city when the AI attacked me with overwhelming force. This was in v1.0.

In 1.2 you will see on the battle screen a skull with a red background. That means the side with that indicator will lose the entire force if the battle is lost.

BTW) any army that can not retreat will ahve that icon.

When you have a combination sally and reenforcements on say the last turn of the seige you will see the icon for the forces beseiged but not for the reenforcements.

I had a fort under siege from a 20 card army of egyptians. I had 1 general and 1 unit of numibian cav. I figured I would make a charge for their general since egyptian generals like to watch the battle from the side. The numibians actually reached the generla and fought a little bit until routing. My general hit a wall of axemen and routed almost instantly. I lost the battle and figured both units were gone. When it came my turn i realized that the general lived and retreated to a safe distance along with 24 of the remaining cav.

Another thing is try to siege a town with just onagers. I used to use 6 onagers and destroy the wall, then quit the battle and let a follow-up army, also with just 1 onager, take the town. When you quit the battle it gives you a loss or unresolved and makes your onagers retreat with moderate losses.

You must of sallied on the first turn and did not see the red skull ...Note my constraint of it being the last turn.

It is not just the last turn. There is a bug. There is a 'logic' that the computer uses that says when a unit routes off the battle screne it appeares again after the battle is over (depends on what unit type and how many are left). This also happens if all the units route at the same time. In a siege the unit doesn't route off the screen, but back to the town square, but the bug is that if they all route at the same time the computer treates it like a normal battle and units appear elsewhere.
