Topic Subject: How many people auto manage?
posted 11 October 2004 21:26 EDT (US)
I never do it. In fact I got sooooo tired of cities going right to military build when a governor left that I set the game with no automanage unless I specifically say so. So how many people automanage and how many of you do and why?

I auto manage construction, but I wouldn't trust a computer with my military recruitment. That's where approximately 2/3 of my money goes, so I can't trust a computer, since he'll probably exceed that and I can't afford it.

when my empires gets big, i will only automanage the small towns with like 1000+ pop or so with Growth build, and without recruitment.

i found comp does not spend money fast enough . and they dont want to build while i havel ike xxxxxxx gold or something, which is kinda buggy

I've just recently put most of my cities on automanage. It's 182 BC and I've just become tired of micromanaging all the cities. It's okay in the beginning, and when money is tight but once you are getting 10k+ profits a turn you start having enough money for your governors to use as they please. Although, I still directly manage my military buildup. None of my governors have control over the training of new military units. It can get out of control if you let them, then you suddenly see your profits taking a huge nosedive.

On a side note, I wish there was a "retrain all" button that worked globally for all your cities. It can be a hassle checking your units in a dozen cities to see if they can be re-trained or not. Do the governors retrain units if they are given the ability to create military units?

i try to micromanage everything... i know its REALLY REALLY tedious but its the only way i can get EXACTLY what i want...

right now, i have 69 cities under my control and im managing what each is building and recruiting... it gets to be a little too much but the way i work it out is by setting each to build 1 build (those with the options avaible) and then just letting them build...

since right now, each building takes around 4 or 5 turns, im free for those turns to manage recruitment... and roughly 5 or 6 turns later, when i know that ALL construction is complete, i go back through the 65+ cities and assign 1 more building...

its fairly simple this way... but i think i might set it to auto manage everything for a little while...

i'm making a minimum of 41,000 dinari everyturn and i'm at around 103,000 dinari saved up so might set it to automanage all and tell it to spend 80% and save the other 20%... so the ai will spend roughly 33,000 of the 41,000 i make everyturn and save the rest... this should work out

Only for construction.

Never for units... never.

I'm quite new to the game and have only started the Imperial campaign (6 settlements) but have found that only constructing one building and one military unit at a time in each settlement helps as it puts less strain on my crap short term memory. I think once I have lots of settlements and am making good money on each turn I will set to automange everything except military.

well pc is kinkda stupid on automaging buildings imo.

since i would like 4 cities close to gether one specify in infantry other one archery etc etc. to minimize the time i need to obtain best army.

and there aint no command to tell AI about it...

I micromanage everything. I have 25 cities at the moment, and I have organized them so that I have 6 groups of four cities each producing 4 specific units for my armies (archers, infantry, cavalry, various). This way every 4 turns I have 6 new 20 units armies ready to be deployed, and already near the region I want them.

I always have my building queue full. Every 4-5 turns I do a general check up of all my cities and requeue and retrain where needed.

I also play around with taxes and games when moving my garrisons.

Italy is a country of cunning people. Yesterday I got on the bus here in Milan, pritend my ticket - tlick tlack went the machine - and the driver turned around and said: What the hell was that noise?

i dont really use it

auto construct is unreliable... sometimes it builds, sometimes it doesn't

and i wont need stables or an archery range for a province in the middle of my empire or on the edge of the map... and if the population is getting uppity the AI won't build baths or sewers to increase health% to counterbalance the unrest

I only Auto-Manage my taxes for the whole empire. As far as buildings, I build everything myself when a governor is present, otherwise, I auto-manage for whatever I would like to be built. Financial if I want a market, etc..

good thing is that you can only build one of each building so that helps making sure automanage don't build like 4 militia barracks!

35 cities so far, micro everything. 40.000+ Denarii income. though all of my cities build buildings, still get 20.000 more into tresury per turn. Donīt build many armies cus I donīt need them - donīt want to expand no more, becaus management is taking too much time... Perhaps I should change something.

I don't just yet, but my empire is growing so fast I'll probably have to put some cities on auto-build economically or culturally.

Up till now I manage things by qeueing just one building. I know these builds are ready from the building-report and zoom in to these cities to set up the next building, it takes a few minutes and every city is building that turn...
