Well, 1 Its probly a glitch or 2 you lost because you had a time limit and the bar was farther on your side so you lose.

I doubt there was a glitch and there was no time limit.

Yes, without us having more info, not necessarily screenshots, you might just have to accept you lost to the gallowglasses - and they didn't even exist at this point in history

It sounds like your army routed, then. An ambush by what sounds like either gallowglasses or berserkers against spearmen, who are weak against other infantry in melee to start with, of some kind has an obvious conclusion, especially as it seems to be in woodland where Celtic (whatever Celtic is in this game, at least) troops usually have bonuses.
Whilst your cavalry was preoccupied on another flank, or at least somewhere else, your infantry were ambushed in trying to assist. Interesting that your archers were fleeing after your spearmen were ambushed. Probably took a beating from the slingers, if you allowed them to get too close, which seems possible as you had no troops free.
Your general being fairly far from the crisis just helped the Celts (whatever Celtic is in this game, at least) rout your army quicker - as soon as your spears were ambushed and your cavalry were occupied, the game was lost.

The berserkers were probably a huge factor in your defeat. I can remember Hounds of Culann tearing apart my units while I gaped in horror. And they have that fear aspect as well.

Also, Romano-British troops aren't as good as the real Romans, especially the Legionaries. Even Graal Knights are not as great as they are cracked up to be.

Seconded. Graal knights in a long melee with Pictish spearmen.

Pictish spearmen win.

It is imperative to have a moral advantage over opponents, especially if you are outnumbered. Having your calvary and general a few hundred yards away from your main attack force doesn't help the moral issue.

And if the celts had auxilla in the rear, that too would be a target for the calvary, and perhaps the general to accompany.
What map was it on? Were you fighting up hill? On a flat ground? downhill?

And did you run your calvary into some sort of a spearwall? (Number #1 "DO NOT" with calvary).

MOAR INFO PLEASE

No, he clearly says that his cavalry, apparently not including the general (who was left unguarded, I think), were elsewhere when his troops were ambushed. They were simply fighting the wrong battle at the wrong time.

Height doesn't seem to matter much, as it was in an ambush that his melee infantry were decimated. If the Celtic (whatever Celtic is in this game, at least) infantry charged downhill, though, it would have sped up the rout. Either way, a rout seems to have occured.

The maps sounds like British Hills (or a similarly named one) to me, but it's been a while since I played RTW, in which case the Celts (whatever the Celts are in this game, at least) would have begun with higher ground. It seems the battle was across the entire map on different types of terrain, however, so I doubt height had much to do with anything. The fact that he said much of the fighting took place in woodlands is the important thing.

He also says his cavalry was victorious.

But if you want me to help, anstar, then we do need more info

Sheesh shut me down!

And you have no evidence of what map it is.. (no geographical evidence )

But what I was getting at, was that the general was not near his infantry, which there for when they got bezerked they became little whimps and ran... because they had no general to give moral. DUR.

When you say some beserkers the number makes a huge difference!
I should know my main campaign at the moment is Celts.

when my general smashed some of there cavalry they charged into the main attack and my general was killed there by beserkes then the rest of the cavalry fleed and then all the infantry fleed as the speerman died the archers were long gone.

Well there you go. General died - reducing your troops moral to a grain, than once their berserkers walked into your main attack force it was "game over". Unless I am forgetting a part here, which I probably am.
