Im starting my 3rd Long Campaign as the Julii and I would like not to go backrupt this time .

I need help with defeating those nasty Gauls and not falling behind economically! Im fighting and fighting and conquering new cities all the time and I never have enough Generals to make Governer of the city, so they revolt and I lose the city almost as fast as I conquered it .

Can anyone give me tips on invading Gaul/Spain/Britain with the Julii, I'm not very good.

Ok the biggest tip I can give from experience in all the times I have beaten the campaign is focus on your economy early on. Take only rebel settlements if even that much. Raise the taxes as much as possible and do not lower them until a city has all possible econ buildings. Also if you are desperate for cash try to trade maps with factions. They tend to pay tons of cash for your map and if you keep demanding their map they raise the price they will pay for yours.

I think it'll be the best if you concentrate on kicking the Gauls out of Casaphine Gaul first. build two armies of Hastaii , War dogs, 4 cavalry in each, and a decent general in each, and you are all set on beating the Gauls. Just restock after taking towns.

Oh and move some ships to Greece ASAP. there will be alot of Port blocking senate missions that will rack in some serious dough.

Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.

I am playing my 2nd campaign as Scippii on Hardest/Hardest (I never finished my 1st campaign as Brutii on Hard/Medium because it was too easy... I conquered 10 provinces in an evening of play).

On Hardest/Hardest I can tell you that there is a challenge (especially the battles, anyway). I have several diplomats I use to bargain for maps around the known world. I set tax rate as high as possible. When I conquered Carthage I knocked down their temple (Baal) and put in a temple to Saturn (I am pretty sure that helped the public opinion... although I still think I need to replace some of the Carthaginian buildings with Roman ones).

I find battles are more realistic in that I don't crush my foe in every single battle (like happend on medium). Some battles I have to be more meticulous with managing my units (like when I took Sparta... those doggone Spartan Hoplites are so strong!).

Econony first
just grab cities with rebels in it or port cities.
Get the port cities asap

all economy and road upgrade , with temple when you need it.

all i do is defend and boom my economy . By 200 bc i always have about 300000 bucks then i buy my way to greatness.
