This is really one of the last mysteries in the game to me, because I've never found a way to make decent city governors. How do you keep your family members from getting all the myriad of undesirable traits?
Generals are easy; send them to war, watch them build up to legendary commander after a number of battles. They'll also inevitably acquire various other battle traits and retinue. Making a 9 star 9 influence dude isn't hard.
But outside of the 'you get negative management traits once you pass 50k denari' line, and academys/temples providing decent retinue, it can be really tough to find people decent at governing cities. The starting family is usally very good, but with 2-3 exceptions per generation, the people that follow them have little to no acumen. What are your strategies to keep them from becomming alcoholics/going insane/degenerating into debauchery/gambling away everything/etc? Or is this just something built into the game to remind us that nepotism actually doesn't work very well?
'Accident' is just 'story' spelled backwards - Chinese Proverb
