Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

Doesn't really matter to you EoJ, you aren't the guy who has to hold back a angry horde of ragtag Turkish militia.

Says the guy with the big fleets, Italian Spear Militia and the biggest catholic realm in Europe. My heart weeps. :P

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Chauvinism is not a particularly nice trait at the best of times but can be suicidal when the person your talking too can have you executed on a whim.

Facebook, anyone?

If you weren't so silly as to declare war, then I would have some sympathy. Now?

I'm rootin' for Bandito on this war. Besides, on a single-player version of this game I was trying out.. I sent out a Jihad at Venice. It was fun.

Right well I'm back and will play shortly.

For the record Bandito - I don't consider that inviting bribes is anywhere near 'making threats'. Simply pointing out that giving Sicily money makes Sicilian aggression less likely is just plain common sense (which you may or may not need help with )

That message goes to all players in hotseatA - feel free to donate to Sicily, all contributions would be gratefully accepted and improve diplomatic standing.

'Protection racket' is an ugly if accurate word.

edit: done and on to the Turks. I'll put up the ranking scrolls at some point - it's just a bit disheartening to see all the other players racing ahead of Sicily. Pah, you'll see - you'll all see (not sure what you'll see though)

Swampy, I'm sure we'll be coughing in the dust you'll leave when we're finished curb-stomping you.

I don't know exactly what you mean - but I don't think I like it

So, we have a new Pope on board, I see. Congratulations to the English Cardinal for getting elected.

Incidentally, what are the settings for the papal election? Is it automated, or is it first person who it comes up for is the only person that gets to vote?

Also, I note a domination in the college of cardinals between Venice and Sicily.

I think to get it on anything other than automatic papal voting you need to edit a file. From a mechanics stand point - if you all get to vote then there's potentially no pope for 3-4 people's turns whereas on single player that's not a problem.

Unless Venice didn't have a candidate I'm suprised it didn't win - if no candidate from Venice then it's probable that England has the better standing (even if Sicily is a very handy trade partner for Venice (in my humble and biased opinion))

If anyone wants to do an experiment with a fresh hotseat and let us know the answers then it'd be something handy to add to the FAQ/guide thing thats stuck up somewhere. Is that kept up to date btw? There was a spate of questions a while back on hotseats etc

In hot-seat, only the first player gets to vote. It was explained somewhere. I think due to England's good relationship with others (he got how many allies?) his cardinal got elected instead of Venice. Selifator probably bribed some votes with large cash as well.

This is incredibly stupid. I control half of the College of Cardinals and I still can't vote? That sucks. A lot. TT_TT

That is why factions who start first will always have advantages over others; be it voting, attacking, or even using agents. Sucks to be the last guy as the Turks and the Moors, for me. Still, more challenges will mean sweeter victory, kekeke.

Good point, I've updated the list.

Selifator, could you make sure you've briefed your sub and given the password etc as you're off soon (Monday iirc)

I've passed the save on to Bandito for the Turk's turn 27

Did the player that assassinated the pope (unless he slipped in the bath between England's turn and Sicily's) get to vote, or was it done automatically? Does the king of Sicily have to cede the title 'godfather' to the Sicilian pope?

Bonus points to Selifator if he can find and edit the appropriate quote regarding the pope being Sicilian
