Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

Hooray!!

Baggies great escape!

Bender: Then why do I have to be careful?

It was actually a flash games website, thank you. You'll pay for that, Swamp

Aha, Spain is done, on to the next turn (probably me but I'll check and forward it if not)

edit: Next turn is Venice, I think I've got the order worked out, it should be me after Venice and then the Turks I think.

Might be a while folks I've encoutered "technical" problems.

Edit: Can't get it working so I'm gonna retire for the night try again tommorrow. If I really cannot get it working I will pass to sub and possibly pull out.

*sigh* Since nobody else wants to do another hotseat I guess I'll go back to being a sub.

Due to technical difficulties, Hunterufus has withdrawn from the game.

Would anyone like to step up to take Venice? Hoppylyte has first refusal I think given he's played as sub for this game once already, but it's open to others too.

Apologies for the bump/double post, but as well as highlighting the need for a Venice player there's a bit I'd like to add that is for general discussion:

Are there any points which people would consider as 'allowed' or 'not allowed'? I'd ahve thought that all things that could be construed as exploiting the system - such as putting forts up on resources so that you can have 20 merchants all safe from takeover, or using armies to 'squash' assassins/priests/spies out of existance - would all be naturally off limits, but I have come to understand that this isn't universally accepted.
Whether we do or don't accept any thing like this is of less importance in my view than whether we all know what we can/can't do.

Similarly, are people happy to play their turn once, rather than reloading if they don't get a perfect result?

I think we should play the turn ONCE. if you do it multiple times it's kind of like cheating.

Currently I have a Venice hot-seat going on so I really do not wish to play them again. Tell me if any other factions are vacant though, then I'll be glad to step in their shoes.

I agree with son of Ra. Doing it multiple times is OK on singleplayer, but on multiplayer its just unfair.

If we're REALLY desperate, I'll play Venice and El_Bandito can take my spot as the Turks.. though I'd still much rather stay as them. But I'd also like to get this game going.. lol. Just lemme know if thats what you guys want to do. I'll go practice as Venice just in case..

Well Dsmi, we have Venice open right now, Hunter dropped. Let Swamprat know if ya want to replace him.

The Muslim factions are definetly different El_bandito.. less heavy armor, worse melee cavalry, but excellent archers/mounted archers and the smexyness that is the Hashashim and Naffatun.

'Dropped'?
I believe the word(s) "forced out through techinical errors" is to be used in this case

It's the timing of this that always gets me - thanks for the offers dsmi1 and Gagonite/El Bandito - I'd emailed Hoppylyte a few days ago asking him if he'd take over thinking that he was a reasonable choice given that he'd played one turn for us on England when Son of Ra had a problem.

This morning I'm met with an acceptance from him and a couple of good offers from others here. Unless anyone has a strong argument as to why not, I'll go with Hoppylyte since I made that offer first (noted a few posts previously). Thank you very much the others for making the offer to take over Venice - had they come in before Hoppylyte replied (or enough before that I saw them before I saw the email) then I'd have gone with one of them.

Is it ok to keep you both (El Bandito and dsmi1) on the list of subs?

edit - oh and I agree fully with the point on not replaying turns to get a better result / not exploiting, I was just after confirmation that the other players thought that too...

Guys I've hit a snag. I tried loading the ame and once it loads the main screen comes up. Is there something I missed? Could the save be corrupted?

It isn't corrupted, the same thing happened to me the first time. Problem is that your kingdoms expansion isn't patched to 1.05. You can download it at http://www.worthdownloading.com/download.php?gid=2528&id=14614

I can confirm that the save file does work, so Hoppylyte's suggestion hopefully will be the right answer.

The link there is for the US gold version - you need to make sure that you use the correct version of the patch I think, there are different ones for some countries and also a difference between versions where you bought M2tw and then added kingdoms, the gold edition and I think also one for downloaded versions (e.g. off of steam).
There's a list of links on the totalwar.com m2tw support page:
http://www.totalwar.com/index.html?page=/en/medieval2/&nav=/en/medieval2/
That should get you close, then choose support then kingdoms.
