Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

It looked like the address etc was correct when EoJ sent the email - I've forwarded it on to you again. For the first few turns it might be wise if everyone checks their junk mail folders / settings just in case things get filtered out that we'd rather they didn't.

Thanks for the offer Brutian, we'll keep you in mind. I suppose the question comes of 'should you be allowed to read any hotseat campaign write-ups?' if you're a potential sub. I'd rather not lose either potential interested readers or potential subs so that's a difficult one. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I had actually thought of this myself and decided against it. People seem pretty much dedicated to the Hotseat at the moment but things can change all of a sudden, and if i am up to date on Spanish, Venetian and turkish activity and I am offered England or Sicily, it provides a tricky situation.

60% of people use dodgy statistics in things such as forum signatures. Post this if you are part of the 50% who don't.

Hello Fernandez, we've currently got all the players we need - if we have any need for replacements we'll keep you in mind though. If it's speed you're after then I'm not sure how well this fits - we're on turn 72 and we started ooh, probably about two years ago. The poor turn rate is mainly due to a couple of patches where things almost ceased entirely, we were doing quite well for the first year.

In terms of reading materials - there are a few guides about and you might find the campaign write-ups interesting, to the extent people have discussed plans etc. I'll draw up a brief list of links below. Personally I think that the campaign threads are much more interesting when various people comment, question and suggest things, but mine seem to just end up full of me monologuing.

Links:
Hotseat guide discussion - unfortunately El Bandito's secrets weren't ever actually disclosed, so that's as far as that guide goes
Campaign discussions:
HotseatA - England
HotseatA - Spain
HotseatA - Venice
HotseatA - Sicily (Probably one of the most complete - but also as it was written by me, probably also quite dull...)
HotseatA - Turks

HotseatB - England
HotseatB - Moors
HotseatC - England
HotseatE - England
HotseatF (yes it did get that silly, maybe up to 'I') - England
(no deliberate posting just of England threads, they just seem to be the most common and most detailed)

There are some on other forums that can be quite useful for specific aspects, such as how 'admin mode' for hotseats works, but I'd start locally with the ones on M2TWH and then either ask or search the internet for specific questions.

You might notice that a lot of the write-ups stop after a few turns; mostly that's because the games withered away. Part of the difficulty with hotseats is keeping them moving and keeping all players engaged. If it works you end up with quite a fun and involved game, if it doesn't then it's quite disappointing.

Civilian employee Selifator reporting for active reserve duty.

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Chauvinism is not a particularly nice trait at the best of times but can be suicidal when the person your talking too can have you executed on a whim.

Facebook, anyone?

active reserve... That's an oxymoron.

Righto, thanks for keeping us up-to-date GundamMerc. I'm likely to be out of contact for a couple of days but should be back easily in time for my next turn unless Sicily and Turkey play quickly.

The Turks keep bugging my couriers with messages, and I keep forgetting to send them back with a response. I have four regions. My religious fervor greatly outreaches my abilities. Same ol' same ol'.

I forgot to send the save again. Probably won't be at house Thursday, so Friday seems like it will be the most likely day I can send it. I'm typing this via phone by the way, for those who are wondering.

Can at least one of you start writing on your faction thread again, it was quite intersting to read it.

I'll be continuing mine, I'm only one turn behind

Turn 72 is somewhat sluggish compared to the last couple, but it is moving - TheGodfather should have it now. TheGodfather, if the email hasn't come through (you had trouble last time iirc, or was that Awesomated? Hmm maybe you didn't then) then let us know.

Things are still moving along, I had been super busy lately and just got a chance to load the save this morning for Sicily but the actual file was for Venice. Once i get the proper save from Jade I will be taking my turn and things will continue to progress. Stay with it everyone.
posted 26 February 2011 04:32 EDT (US)     1299 / 1439
I thought that having sat around waiting for a while I'd help things along a little by hitting 'end turn' for Venice if that was all that had been missed (i.e. if the turn was complete but missing the last step) - however the first message up on the screen (which I'd intended to just hit escape through so not get any extra info) was a "accept / reject" one, indicating that the save was at the start, rather than the end, of the turn. The other test of "is there a new message to Spain?" also came out without showing the turn had been played.

We need to get this moving again quite pronto. TheGodfather, had you heard back from GundamMerc?

edit: Other version of save sent on 26 Feb - thanks GundamMerc
