Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

Err, well, I should maybe have got myself to a position where I could do something about it last time I knew where he was - having given the 'no exploit' rule at the outset I didn't want to use the only method I had open to me to remove your spy.

So long as you beat my fleet with a larger one rather than by relying purely on luck I'll not complain - particularly if mine retreated rather than sinking entirely.

With this hotseat I've (belatedly) worked out a quite cunning exploit to take advantage of any long running crusades - which I've not used - general plus 7 units join the crusade, the other units leave the crusade and return home, the general gets on a ship, you then have a free fleet with large movement range and because it's only got the general on it there's no penalty for heading away from the crusade target.
It's probably worthless on single player though as crusades don't last this long - maybe if someone is daft enough to do a 'no holds barred' hotseat...

On a very off topic point this is a vaguely interesting article- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8373794.stm
Oddly enough they didn't look to see if M2:TW allowed war crimes with the options to go on a religious crusade, exterminate regions etc.

It is good that you are sticking to the rule, Swampy. See why I trusted you so much? Over the others anyway.

Anyway, the article you showed me reinforced my belief that those reviewing professionals themselves have no grasp on reality. They need a good slapping.

So, should we turn the save to Lloyds?

I had e-mailed it to both of them.

Right. Could you guys send the save and the pass to Brut? Really, we should progress faster, if we want to finish the game in our lifetime.

Brutian has played the turn and has sent it to me. I will play Sicily's turn tomorrow.

Right. Now we need to figure out how to get hot-seat I and B moving.

Got the save from Swampy, but it is kinda late here in UB. I will work on it when I get up the following day.

Well, I shall play today. Got a lot of housecleaning, but War waits for no man.

Has the save been sent on from bandito?

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Chauvinism is not a particularly nice trait at the best of times but can be suicidal when the person your talking too can have you executed on a whim.

Facebook, anyone?

Save sent to Selfy. Apparently, war can wait when a half mad woman screams at you.

Addition: Remember the Venetian leader way back, who had a princess retinue? Well, I just spotted another Venetian general with a witch's retinue which gives him a nice bonus. What the heck is wrong with the Venetians? Dabbling in the dark arts?

I'm tempted to ask if we can start again, y'know. Boxed in between three human nations, with a fourth's fleet that reaches about as far as Algiers, does not make for happy hunting in Spain. Hurry up Americas!

Yeah, Spain was a bad choice, eh? More like, going against me was a bad choice. Attack Venice, attack Venice.

You should have stayed in Iberia EoJ, growing rich and fat instead of sending two of you faction leaders and a faction heir to useless deaths, not to mention full four stacks of stabbed, deserted or drowned men.

BTW, EoJ, the slot for Moors is open in hot-seat I and we are only on turn 9. You can sub there if you want. Play as a Muslim faction for a change, it is..."liberating". Me and Swampy are in there to keep you on your toes, or each other's.

Bandito, isn't hotseat I on turn 13? Remember the opening post is out of date since Jubuorangie stopped posting/playing things...

I've got the save but may not get a chance to play it today - I'll try but no promises.

:'(

What did i do? I only just started playing! For all you know i might be planning to stab everyone else in the back and join you! .

To everyone but Bandito: I was just kidding above.

To Bandito: I wasn't

To everyone but Bandito: I was

And so on...

Well said Brut; I will see your true intention soon enough. I just received the save from Swampy and will play soon.

BTW, the swine flu quarantine in UB is about to end soon, so hopefully I will be on-line more often. It has been bloody 4 weeks, trying to find an underground net center (the one police failed to notice) was not as easy as it sounded.

It sounds hard enough, I'm glad you've got the save but please don't get in trouble with the police (or get swine flu) over it.

edit - rankings belatedly updated. Needless to say the Turks are still going up, Sicily is going down, England is sort of holding on and Spain doesn't seem to have any military left...

Save sent to Selfy.

Just celebrated my 100th victory on this turn, taking Nuremburg from the English. (funny how I was the one who took a city from England when it should be the other way around) That should teach Selfy about continuing this Crusade of his. If he still persists...*shrugs*
I never really had any military to start with
And you should be wise to treasure what pitiful remains you have. My diplomats are always ready for cease-fire.
