Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

The turks have formidable assassins, you should be able to assassinate the generals in theory.

Unfortunately it does seem that hotseatA has just about died - I'd be willing to revive it if we can find a player to take over the Turks (Venice isn't too much of an issue really currently) - which you're welcome to do Rubber Tooth, that's if we still have a Spain and England player.

The version of Retrofit we're using is 1.0 (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=118680), coupled with patch 1.5 of the main game (if I remember correctly, it's been a while now) if you're interested and can run retrofit then let me know and I'll send you a save file to test that there's no issues (if you've read the last couple of pages of this thread you'll see that's not uncommon recently). I'll also email the other recent players and see if everyone is still on board.

Your post was rather a nice surprise, even if it still might come to nothing, thank you.

Good i will try to install it =)

I have been folowing your thread for a while now and just recently joind heavengames.

Edit: I have downloaded it now, but when i try to start it stands (Medieval 2 suffered a fatal error and will now exit.)

Edit:Anyone got any advise?

Crumbs, a tricky one.

Given that's quite a general error message I'll answer with a load of questions (apologies if any of them are patronising):

- where does the crash happen, before any splash screen (e.g. where it says "Medieval 2" on a big blueish (I think) background), before/after intro videos etc?

- do you have Kingdoms installed (Retrofit being a mod for Kingdoms)?

- are you patched to version 1.5?

- does kingdoms still start properly (e.g. the Britannia campaign)?

- is Retrofit installed in the right place (when you look at the location on windows explorer) - it should be in medieval2/mods/retrofit ?

- if all of those are 'yes' then please have a look for log files, either in the main directory or in the mod's directory (something like system.log.txt). If you're using Vista or Win 7 then you might have to look in the virtual store to find that type of file.

Every one exept the third question is yes. I download it, but it still says itīs verison 1.4 in the options menu

Edit:Canīt a sub for another contry play the Turks?

Edit:I now have verison 1.5, my uncle came by and helped me out

Edit: But now Kingdoms donīt work It says my disc isnīt in but it is.

Alas all other subs have fled before the prospect of the Turks and/or been hit by computer issues.

If a solid replacement were found for Sicily and everyone else agreed I might be prepared to take over the Turks instead - just to keep the game alive (or is that revive it?). It'd be a shame as I like where the Sicilians are going and would cause problems from me knowing plans/locations of units.

I'm not sure on 1.4 as a patch, it might be what Kingdoms is classed as (http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic/21565/t/Will-there-be-a-patch-1-4.html?page=9) - one thing left to check might be whether the 1.5 patch you tried was the right version as there are a couple of different ones for regions or editions (e.g. the Gold edition). If that was the trouble then I'd have expected the Kingdoms campaigns (Britannia, Crusades etc) to fail as well though, which they don't seem to be doing. Tricky

Hm. I could always swap and do the Turks, while someone takes Spain. Or Spain can be divided up and/or given to a neutral 3rd country (Papal States?)

Ahh splendid. I've been off for a bit with a house move and Christmas etc, now I'm thinking of a "one last push" to try and get this game back on its feet.

I'll email around existing players to confirm availability etc and then put more details up here (over the next week or two - still lots of house things taking up my evenings and some lunches).

In the meantime, if anyone who is interested in joining in could put a note here, preferably covering all of the following:
- whether the game would work for you (i.e. have Retrofit 1.0 installed and working, I can supply a test save on request to ensure it can be opened if there's any doubt)
- whether there are any factions you would be more/less willing to play (look at the ranking graphs and ask any questions you feel necessary)
- whether you're about to vanish off into the ether without finding a replacement :0)

edit:
We have three players in - me, EoJ and Awesomated88
Selifator might be back in the game later if his computer is repaired.

We still need a person (probably to take over one of Spain or Sicily, but maybe England) to get the game moving (no offence intended Selifator). If anyone is willing please post or email.

I would be willing to play any faction, including Venice. I have Retrofit mod and just need to test a save.

Ahh splendid, the more the merrier.

TheGodfather has turn 70 for Sicily currently, the only spare gap is Venice (which comes just before Sicily). I'll send you the Venice turn 70 save at some point (it might be tomorrow if that's ok) so that you can firstly test that you can load it and secondly so you can have a look at the position before getting tied into playing it (not that untying yourself is hard, you just say "I'd rather not do this any more thanks").

I will need to install it on my non-school computer, the mid-west of the United States is getting slammed by a snowstorm. My school is closed, and probably willl be tomorrow too.

I've resent it (ignore the "re" there if you don't want your feelings hurt EoJ); it's good to see that digging out an old file to allow you to get used to the Turk's position wasn't a waste... :0)

Never received that e-mail before you 'resent it', I'm afraid.

Sent on.
