Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

I'd be happy to play a hotseat campaign, It would be my first though as I find it difficult to find an opponent.

Would it be over MT2? or one of the expansions?

Cheers,
Rufus

I've newsied this on the front page to help spread the word.

P.S. Consider using the downloads section to host the saved game if email would be too messy. It can be updated by any of the mods.
Also, one person should have all the passwords in case a player should drop out of the game to allow a replacement to step in.

Eep, I'd forgotten that after starting something like this I'd need to get off of my bum and organise some stuff.

Thanks for the newsie Saxo (is that also some type of stuffing / something else related to chicken?) Gaius

Hunterufus, you'll need to send your email once we're ready to go which won't be for a little while - we need to agree who will hold passwords etc as a back up and how that sort of thing will operate and agree one or two other bits before we can start. Also, starting before christmas seems a little optamistic, but if we get sorted quickly I suppose we could.

My plan is that we'll use the retrofit mod for kingdoms and play on effectively the whole M2TW map. The kingdoms campaigns themselves are a bit small for having a few players on, and without some sort of mod, vanilla M2TW doesn't have the hot seat thingy nicely enabled.

Are both of you happy with using autoresolve forceably? It would take away an aspect of the game, but doing it would bring out the diplomatic side more possibly.

Also, should we have just one side or two (see EoJ and El Bandito in the Mongolphobia sub-forum for an example of what I mean)? I'd guess one as two is a bit weird

In this mod, what nations are available? All the ones from vanilla, or those plus some extras? I'd have to get the mod first off.. but I'd probably be interested in joining. Tis'd be me first hotseat campaign

I haven't got the mod yet so I can't be sure - but I think it's just the ones from the original campaign.

Ah alright, well, I'll most likely join in, I'm having some graphical problems with my video card. Its gettin' old and I think its finally dying out..

Ok, news on the graphics card.. me mum let me borrow hers (same brand, twice the strength ) so I'm definetly in for the campaign.

And for auto-resolve, I'm for that. If it wasn't auto, you guys'd probably swamp me in the real time combat stuff.. I'm still workin' on that part.

thanks for replying. i'm always ready to start the campaign, but you might want to start it soon (e.g christmas = new games = no time for any others ect.)

By having one team or 2 do you mean that we'd all be fighting side by side or something?

I'd prefer not to be the one resposible for the passwords because I'd loose the seven wonders of the world if they were left in my possesion. Finnaly your going to creat a mod for this ting? Or can we just do it from the original, give me all instructions of what to do because I have no idea how this is going to work, If there is a mod tell me when/where I can go to do this.

If you need to cantact me my email is:webb.rory@googlemail.com

By having one or two sides I was unclear - I meant should each player get a single faction or two. I think one would be best myself.

The mod that would seem to be the most sensible to use is:
http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=118680
That mod basically copies the original M2TW campaign into Kingdoms - letting us use the hotseat feature of Kingdoms on the original campaign.

I wasn't planning on this thing starting until after christmas as personally I won't have computer access from the 23rd Dec until January - I suppose that's only a week so wouldn't make much difference, but I assumed other people would have things too. The campaign will take quite a while, particularly if we have a number of people - if everyone takes their turn in a day it'd be reasonably quick, but I imagine that people will take longer.

Saxo Gaius, as a respected moderator chap, and someone who got vaguely involved by putting this on the news, would you do us the honour of being the password holder? It'd be nice to have a volunteer substiute player too, if anyone wants to do that (or we can worry about that later if we need to).

I think I prefer the idea of just emailing people directly rather than using the downloads section, besides that way there won't be dozens of versions of it clogging up the downloads bit. What do other interested people think?

Late January would fit in nicely for me, but we'd better make sure this campaign doesn't last to long. (*Cough* Empire total war *hint* *hint*)

I'd prefer to have only one fraction each, but 2 might make it more fun seeing as we have so much time to think about moves.

ooh hotseaty! me sees laty!

i'd like to join, but as i can only play M2TW at my dads, i probably can't (i don't think waiting for me every week to play my turn is something you guys would like to do )

Yep, it's true, having no sig is boring. But so is this one. Which makes my point... relatively pointless.
Can a point be a point when it is pointless?

I'd like to be a part of this as well, if there is any room left?

EDIT: Will it be Retrofit mod or Retrofit MP.

There's room left - we should start haggling over factions around now though and agree how it's going to work.

I think that we're just about full now though or it'll take a month to get everyone to do a turn.

I was thinking Retrofit rather than Retrofit MP unless you can give a reason why the other would be better.

Boetje - if you can find someone to share with (so they play it if the turn comes in when you wouldn't be able to play, you play if you can) or you can sign up as the substitute - if someone can't take a turn for the week we'll send it to you and give you their password, you'd have to follow any instruction from the person who's turn it should be though.

If nothing else, this thread may be a lesson in how to (or not to) organise games like this on the forum. I probably should have read through some threads on other forums to see what and where problems would be so we could avoid them...

I agree, I can see many ways that this could go horrible wrong and turn into a disaster.

I have the Retforit downloaded so am now ready to go when everyone else is.

Finnaly, for fractions, I was thinking of playing Portugal as i have spent many hours refining tactics for the campaign map. But If it would make the campaing better to have our fractions closer together then I would be happy to play whatever fraction I have.

Since noone has disagreed with the all autoresolve idea, make sure you only consider your abilities as far as the campaign map goes - if you don't like them on the battle field that matters not a jot.

I was considering France/HRE - but if there's no battle map action serpentines (which are only really around quite late on anyway) wouldn't be half as much fun anyway. I might go with Sicily since I've never really played as them, although that goes for a few factions.

I was tempted to go for the Moors and join in the fun down in that corner, but I'll go for Sicily. Probably a bad idea, but heyho.

Will we be setting up 6 little threads to report to the forum as a whole on our progress, or not bothering?

Beg your pardon, only campaign map? Must of missed that

But yes, I'll still probably go for Spain.

It's the third paragraph of the first post and mentioned once or twice elsewhere :0)

If everyone agrees to go with not forcing autoresolve then we can fight on the battlemap - I'd prefer it in several ways but auto resolve has the advantage of 1. time, 2. making diplomacy more important. As with the other bits, comments/suggestions welcome - we want to have the best game we can after all...
