Hotseat game status: - Sicily has won on turn 115

Players (in turn order): (with links to write-ups) plus some other links where I consider it to be funny

Selifator: England
Kilij Ae Varyl: Spain

Venice - FACTION DESTROYED

Me Sicily

EoJ: Turks
I think I might have referenced this video before in the first crusade
This might be more appropriate... Looks like I was right there

Rankings - Turn 101

Rankings - Turn 69

Subs
Glacier_Girl played as sub for England - T29, T30
- played as sub for Sicily - T33

Monty501 played as sub for Spain T30, T 31
JuBuOrangie played as sub for Venice - T31 to T40
Lloydsgamble played as sub for Venice T41 to 42
Brutiangodofrock played as sub for Venice T43 to T65
Zsmart one played as sub for Turks T50 to T65
Hashoosh played as sub for Turks T64

Rules to note:

No 'exploiting' of any kind (e.g. putting forts on resources and stocking them with merchants) nor reloading your go to get a better result.

If I don't hear from a player within 4 days of receiving a turn, I will try to find a sub to take the turn.

If you don't expect to be able to play within 4 days, just let me know - extensions are fine (preferably not too often though please). I'll send a reminder email after a couple of days as a prompt.

If you expect an extended absence, e.g. not being able to play for over a week, you're invited to arrange a sub, giving them instructions etc so your turn is played as you'd like it to be.

An 'un-arranged' sub has the option to take over after 2 weeks or 10 turns The '2 weeks' here looks a little low, but the turn limit looks high?

Selif, can you send the save again? It wasn't attached.

Totally forgot to attach it. :P

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Chauvinism is not a particularly nice trait at the best of times but can be suicidal when the person your talking too can have you executed on a whim.

Facebook, anyone?

Attached and sent.

Ironically, I've realised that despite my efforts to play quicker than usual and not do a slow build-up, I am in a similar spot in this hotseat than I would be playing Spain on single player- Iberia and odd settlements conquered here and there, and starting to hit a few precious high units. And before some clever sods notes that it means I have lost 5 armies in singleplayer spain by this stage, I wouldn't have built them and instead relied on two armies to do everything, both of which would be quite badly depleted and out of date.

The big difference, however, is that it is suicide for me to go to war with any of my neighbours at present. Nor can I expand using Crusade.

Righto, I've paused my turn for some diplomacy. Not very high level stuff I'm afraid.

Hopefully I'll pass the save on later today or tomorrow if not.

The rankings are still the same sort of thing, but I'd like a round of applause for the tax payers of Sicily with the largest army ranking per head of population by a huge margin (I reckon anyway). Pride is worth screwing up your economy for, hopefully.

Got the save and will play soon, but I also want to exchange a few political mails as well. The time seems ripe for peace--hopefully not my wistful thinking.

For some reason I don't expect to receive one of those peaceful emails - unless it's along the lines of "why don't you become a vassal".

Bah, humbug.

Turn 46 sent to Selfy.

Swampy, I am more than happy to make peace with you as equals. You can mail me the specific terms.

Selfy and I had managed to conclude our own similar peace agreements, and Brutian was amiable to peace as well. The rest of you are also most welcome to take a break from the slaughter.

It's definitely tempting but I also want to see how I can do on the offensive rather than just wimping out. I was right I'd not get a direct offer though

I assume that Selifator will take a few days to pass the turn on (no offence), which gets us quite close to Christmas (or similar festive break). I don't intend to do any sort of monitoring of saves or arranging subs for the next couple of weeks on the assumption that the hotseat is likely to be a low priority for most people, so it's better to allow a delay than pester. Normal service will resume in the new year.

Any objections?

About time.

Anyway, I wish to declare that I will drop the Jihad within 2 turns as per the peace agreement between me and Selfy.

As soon as you drop the Jihad, I am willing to open peace talks, Bandito.

Very well then. Send me a mail regarding peace before my turn. Depending on the circumstances, I might not even wait for two turns but drop the Jihad immediately.

I've got the turn through and should be passing it on around about new years eve. I wonder if the Turks have left a nice christmas present (such as leaving me a couple of settlements)

Now that will depend heavily on whether you were naughty or nice on this turn, won't it Swampy?

Happy New Year folks. Here is my present: The Jihad has ended.

Turn 47 sent to Selfy.

As an update, the save is with EoJ (unless he sneakily passed it on without telling me). EoJ has posted since receiving the save so there is hope that he's not just vanished.

Maybe we all need to vote on the awards thread to make him happy enough to play his turn?

Yes you do. Hop to.

Save passed on to Bandito.

The jihad is over. Sicily has bowed to the inevitable chopping block and abandoned the crusade as directed by the all-powerful Turks.

Quite possibly in the least appropriately conducted quests for peace/survival yet seen. My wife's comment was "why do you want to be knocked out of the hotseat all of a sudden?". Ho hum.

Sorry for the delay guys, I had work coming out of my ears. Er... Anyway, turn 48 save is now with Selfy (2 more turns until 50!)
I was actually surprised that Sicily had abandoned the Crusade, but one should not complain about a free gift. (of course, it was not free and I had to make trade offs)

Time to lay back and smoke that hooka, and enjoy peace.

Well fine then, be like that.

Save sent on to Bandito.

Oh and rankings updated (hopefully, assuming the pictures upload properly - I should probably have waited to write this until I knew they'd gone up) - the production one looks a bit wrong I think.

You know the terms, Swampy. You want peace, simply comply.
