Hello everyone, from now on, I will use this thread to update you on the mod I'm doing, Spartacus Total War.

The mod will focus on the gladiator uprising lead by Spartacus and on the many events taking place by that time.
The mod will be as historically accurate as possible, having in mind, of course, that his is a game and supposed to be fun, not a history lesson.

The new factions will be:

The Republic of Rome (previous Julii)

The Gladiator Rebels (previous Macedon)

The Roman Rebels (previous Scipii)

The Eastern Provinces (previous Brutii)

The Celts (previous S.P.Q.R.)

The Mauritanians (previous carthage)

The Kingdom of Bithinya and Pergamum (previous Seleucid Empire)

The map will suffer some changes. More regions will be added, as well as the starting territories for the remaining factions, and some tricks I won't reveal so you can be surprised while playing it.

Since I'm no artist whatsoever, I'm using skins and units that already exist on the game and those on Andalus' AUP (to who I give my many thanks in advance for giving me permission to use them), with some minor changes. You will see for yourself, in time.

If someone is willing, I could really use some help creating faction symbols. I have the ideas but not the talent to make them. If so, just say something here and I'll contact you.

This is all for now. As soon as I have news, I will update.

Yay! Spartacus's own forum! I'm proud!

A very good secutor is in the assembly line, Anarchasis. Lets see if it's ready this week. And if you look on the faction preview for the gladiators you will see a new and more historically accurate mirmillo.

Yes, Ancient Zoro, that's pretty much the idea. Missile cavalry? But of course. The Parthians, the Sarmatians and the Roxolani will have horse-archers while many other factions will have mounted skirmishers.

Thank you, Andalus! It is possible, indeed. And as I said before, I would not do it for a regular faction. But for the gladiators I will. Even if the majority of people fights almost always with the same kind of units (I include myself on those, I like a homogenic army), since the mod is about the revolution of the Gladiators I want to have a large variety of them available.

By the way, people. If you check the faction list on the sticky topic you'll see that the faction list has changed. The britons are no more and the Roxolani are the new addition.
I'm hoping I can do a Celtic preview today. If I don't, tomorrow I'll do it for sure.

One other question how will Pontus fair against the other AI's??? Just want to know because I thought it was kind of unfair that they were so crap in RTW.

Congrats on your sub-forum, neo_deus.

If you want a variety of units to e used in the gladiator faction, you need to vary their stats widely so that you might have a defensive unit, an offensive unit, etc. That is to say you would have units for different roles, sort of like a hammer and anvil type thing.

Veni, Vidi, well... you know.

Ancient Zoro, Pontus will be strong. One of the strongest, really. Good infantry, good cavalry, lacking some missile support but nothing that can be remedied with some mercenaries.

Thanks, Caesar Vincens. Yes, that is the idea

Looks like a really promising mod. However, do you plan on using the rome executable or the BI one?
posted 06 May 2009 10:12 EDT (US)     107 / 186
Yes I did, Anarchasis. But I will do another for the forum soon. After I make some slight changes in some units.

Thanks, Hoppylyte. The first version will probabily be rtw only, but it will use the BI executable in the future.

A question: what do you think of this shield?

Thanks, Trodon. Don't have a date yet. It all dependes on how much work I have.

It's from a unit of the Kingdom of Bithynia and Pergamum, Ancient Zoro.

I kinda like it, though I think it would need some retouching.

Hi all. I've made some modifications on some horse skins. Here's a few of them

Gaul, with a fluffy bear skin on it.

Numidia

Germanic horse with wolf fur.

And for Parthia

I wonder what PETA would have to say about these skins...

Speaking of Parthia, the units for Parthia and Armenia are ready. I'm just waiting the permissions of the EB team to use two of their armoured and half armoured horses to make two new previews.

Oh, yes, still about the horses. Some horses will be using Pinarius Horse Mod. When I have it ready, I'll show them to you.

New version of Lybian Infantry. The armour is from Halie Satanus, I just changed it a bit.

The older was this one

Versatile unit, carry several javelins to the battle so they can harass the enemy at distance and well capable of engaging infantry and cavalry and hold their ground for a while until heavier troops arrive.

This, with the Kings and the Thracian symbol
