This will be the topic devoted to mercenary and rebel units.
Mercenaries will play a decisive roll on Spartacus: TW since they will fill every factions recruitment gaps.

Lybian Infantry.
Spearmen armed with some javelins to throw before they engage the enemy. These men can be relied to hold the line for a while until heavier troops arrive or to engage light cavalry but should not be expected to hold in prolongued melee with heavy infantry or cavalry.

Nubian Spearmen
Common mostly on the Egyptian armies some of these men venture even further north looking for an employer. Usefull as supporting troops they shouldn't be expected to make a difference on the battlefield, but to help others do it.

Scordisci Mercenaries
Heavy infantry that can hold their ground against most enemies. As any other "non-speared" infantry they shouldn't be exposed to heavy cavalry charges.

Scythian Mercenary Axemen
When the Scythians were overrun from their lands by the Sarmatian and Roxolanni, not all of them perished or assimilated the conqueror's culture. Some of them decided to migrate and gain their life as mercenaries.
Fierce warriors, these men can tear apart unarmoured opponents and even put up a good fight against armoured ones when well used.

Greek Mercenaries
Mercenaries were always abundant in the greek world since most of the times its city states could not afford to have a permanent army and used mercenaries in their times of need. These men adapted and are the substitutes of the hoplite mercenaries.
Armed with a sword and javelins these men are well armed and well trained and are an excellent addition to any general that can afford them.

These are just a small part of the available mercenaries. More will be posted later.

Mercenary Greek Marines
Originally from Athens the Greek Marines are the result of the necessity of having a fighting force aboard ships that has adequate equipment to fight on a ship.
Armed with several javelins and a sword, these men would attack the enemy from their ships and then board and kill whoever was left. Through the time, however, they started being used more and more on land, because of their versatility and high training and now can be found fighting on ships or in land.

Illyrian Mercenaries
The Illyrian kings have been known for sharing the plunder from their in equal parts for every warrior. This tradition makes these men very willing to fight, either for their kings or for whoever hires them.
Effective ambushers, these men will defeat most other skirmishers in combat and are expert land and sea raiders.

Illyrian Mercenary Swordsmen
These soldiers have good equipement and compensate for their somewhat impetuous behaviour with great courage and stamina on the battlefield. Encouraged by the bountys of war, they will fight as mercenaries for whoever pays them

Gallo-Germanic Spearmen
The people that lived in the frontiers between Gaul and Germania had, in times of war, to march and fight to defend their homes. Some of them, tired of cultivating the land, deciced to take arms for good and become mercenaries.
Though they don't have the best equipment, they are fierce and, most of them, seasoned wariors, good for protecting the flanks or engaging enemy cavalry.

Nervii Mercenaries
The Nervii, living close to the frontier with Germania, had to fight the Germans many times. Since they didn't have the access to good horses to fight against them, they did the next best thing and armed themselves with spears.

Eastern Mercenary Swordsmen
Most of these men are former soldiers from the armies of Pontus or Armenia that were disbanded. Not willing to return to their homes, they turned into mercenaries, that, though not as well equiped as they used to be when employed by their kings, are still a good force to have around for any commander.

Boii Mercenaries
The Boii were one of the most powerfull gallic tribes, even managing to settle alon the valley of the river Po. However, after beeing defeated in several major wars, they lost the supremacy to their enemies, lost many of their riches and were forced to retreat.
They didn't lost their appetite or their skills to war, however and can be found as mercenaries therough Gaul and sometimes ever farther.
The Boii are excellent line infantry, able to face almost any enemy infantry.

Gallic Mercenary Cavalry
The gallic tribes are not famous for their skills as horsemen but with the people like the Romans always looking for new sources of cavalry for their armies, there is never a lack of job for these men.
Fierce and fearless warriors, these man are usefull at running down skirmishers or other light cavalry, but shoudn't be exposed to spear armed units or heavy cavalry

Remii Mercenaries
The Remii are a belgae tribe, famous for their horsemen. These men are well equiped heavy cavalry, as fierce and fearless as any other "barbarian" cavalry. Shouldn't be exposed to spearmen.

Germanic Mercenary Cavalry
The Germans are famous horsemen. These men, even though they are, most of the times, what remains from smaller defeated tribes that banded toghether to look for some work as mercenaries, they are above average cavalry.

Mercenary Germanic Heavy Cavalry
The heavy horsemen from Germania are feared by their neighbours for many centuries. The reason for this is that these men are superb cavalry, that mount for the first time pretty after they're born and live their whole life training and fighting.

Yes, it is much more realistic to have them in normally colored clothes.
