The Man with the Laughs

Gooooooooood-byyyyyyye Vietnaaaaam! That's right, I'm history... I'm outta here. I got the lucky ticket home, baby. Rollin, rollin, rollin'... keep them wagons rollin', rawhide! Yeah, that's right... the final Adrian Cronauer broadcast... and this one is brought to you by our friends at the Pentagon. Remember the people who brought you Korea? That's right, the U.S. Army. If it's being done correctly, here or abroad, it's probably not being done by the Army.

In honor of Robin Williams, I've decided to forsake the rules and simple post a lot of what made him special to us: his humor and ability to make us laugh!!

Genie: [turns into a cheerleader] Rick 'em, rack 'em, rock 'em, rake! Stick that sword into that snake!
Jafar: You stay out of this!
Genie: [Weakly] Jafar, Jafar, he's our man; if he can't do it, great!

When Christopher Reeve was in the hospital after his accident, Robin came to visit him. Reeve said this about that surprise visit:
Then, at an especially bleak moment, the door flew open and in hurried a squat fellow with a blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent. He announced that he was my proctologist, and that he had to examine me immediately...it was Robin Williams...for the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay.
When Stephan Spielberg was filming "Schindler's List", Robin would call him to cheer him up. I think I only called him once, maybe twice. I called him when I was representing People for the Valdheimers Association. A society devoted to helping raise money to help older Germans who had forgotten everything before 1945. I remember him laughing and going 'thank you.'"

Depends how popular he remains, in case he drags the monarchy into unpopularity with him. It always seems to me that the monarchy hangs by the most fragile thread in the old dominions: public opinion.

The main problem with politics is the lack of parties that protect the important things in life that keep Britain civilised. The national parks, BBC Radio 3 & 4, Test Match Special, the universities (all 24 of them huehuehue), the theatre & the arts, Europhobia, the rule of law and common decency.

Speaking of which, it's Last Night of the Proms tonight. Anyone else going to be drunkenly singing along?

I've set it to record on my tv box, but I can't wait to wake everyone up by belting out Jerusalem. I know all the words to Jerusalem, when England play cricket, at the start of each day, an opera singer sings it

Half 7 until 11. BBC 2 for the first half until 9PM then BBC 1

Yeah thats the one I'm going to Unfortunately, I haven't had any practice so it's going to be interesting. I'm only going because of the large Trent group we have going that convinced me to 'for a laugh'. I just hope I can remember My 60yrd sightmark or it could end up worse than BUTTS outdoors where I shot the number for the target about 4 times leaving several large holes in it.

Eh, well, I'm doing a research project next year, so I should imagine a lot of additional reading and hours in labs to make something work which really isn't at the moment.

Actually I just finished a book on the archaeology of the period covered by my Anglo-Saxon History module, and then wrote an article effectively summarising it for M2TWH to boot. I am now reading a translation of Historia Regum Britanniae, which will almost certainly be a core text for my Insular latin course. I haven't even got a booklist, none of this is required; I was already going to be miles ahead, now I'm going to be light years ahead.

So there.
