The Man with the Laughs

Gooooooooood-byyyyyyye Vietnaaaaam! That's right, I'm history... I'm outta here. I got the lucky ticket home, baby. Rollin, rollin, rollin'... keep them wagons rollin', rawhide! Yeah, that's right... the final Adrian Cronauer broadcast... and this one is brought to you by our friends at the Pentagon. Remember the people who brought you Korea? That's right, the U.S. Army. If it's being done correctly, here or abroad, it's probably not being done by the Army.

In honor of Robin Williams, I've decided to forsake the rules and simple post a lot of what made him special to us: his humor and ability to make us laugh!!

Genie: [turns into a cheerleader] Rick 'em, rack 'em, rock 'em, rake! Stick that sword into that snake!
Jafar: You stay out of this!
Genie: [Weakly] Jafar, Jafar, he's our man; if he can't do it, great!

When Christopher Reeve was in the hospital after his accident, Robin came to visit him. Reeve said this about that surprise visit:
Then, at an especially bleak moment, the door flew open and in hurried a squat fellow with a blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent. He announced that he was my proctologist, and that he had to examine me immediately...it was Robin Williams...for the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay.
When Stephan Spielberg was filming "Schindler's List", Robin would call him to cheer him up. I think I only called him once, maybe twice. I called him when I was representing People for the Valdheimers Association. A society devoted to helping raise money to help older Germans who had forgotten everything before 1945. I remember him laughing and going 'thank you.'"

Yeah, I'm just 15 now, but I did join the forum when I was 11.

By the way, since this forum is mostly British, I wonder if anyone here follows Sherlock? Because if you do, do you really think that Sherlock should have done what he did at the end of season 3?

No, I don't think so, I think it was quite out of character if I'm honest.

And thanks Terikel, glad to see you're as witty as ever.

Jetkill, which part? Getting duped by the chap in the first place was quite daft (not that Sherlock is above being too keen on being pleased with himself to fall for that type of thing I suppose).

Fingers crossed for the next 'series' getting better again. Has the wider internet worked out if the wedding episode approach to murder works? It seemed fairly implausible

Hey, Marcus what you up to?

I didn't think the shooting bit was particularly in character, apart from if you approach it from the angle of he really cares about John to psychopathic levels. The one liner felt forced too.

Living in Wales, have a job and my own place and everything now. Life treating you guys ok?

I really didn't think much of the ending of the last episode, everything from the shooting right to the end, including the comeback just felt shoehorned into the end to make some arbitrary cliffhanger.

And it's not too bad with the Six Nations, not sure which side to support yet, depends if I want to suck up or piss off the locals.

Do put the TV at some distance. We have a very small drawing room in my house, so when my father sent a 55-inch LG Smart 3D TV, it had to be installed in my mother's room. Since then my mother has got +3.0 spectacles, which she never had before in her life. So put some distance between yourself and the TV.

Jetkill's right. I've had eye problems because of the distance at which I watched TV, from which I slowly recovered after we moved.

Considering there is really only one spot I can put my tv in my room, it's going to have to stay. That being said, my head is against one wall, and the tv is on the opposing wall, so I think I'm good.

i Have the opposite problem- my TV for gaming is too small, and i have to sit at a reasonable distance to see something. Hopefully i can remedy that situation soon though..

Also, Putin has asked parliament for permission to use Russian troops in Ukraine. What does everyone make of this?

Russia's butthurt over Ukraine slipping out of its control. My guess would be they'll escalate things for a bit and then calm down, unless the Ukrainian opposition and Russia aren't willing to give up their claims to power. We all saw what happened in Georgia in '08, so the Russians aren't going to think twice about murdering a couple million people and starting a war just for the protection of their borders.

I do hope you don't get deployed there though, in case anything happens.

@AE

What type of games do you play? I noticed a while ago that my sight used to deteriorate especially when I play sports games like FIFA or games like CoD, my eyes don't do well with all the concentration these games demand.
