The Man with the Laughs

Gooooooooood-byyyyyyye Vietnaaaaam! That's right, I'm history... I'm outta here. I got the lucky ticket home, baby. Rollin, rollin, rollin'... keep them wagons rollin', rawhide! Yeah, that's right... the final Adrian Cronauer broadcast... and this one is brought to you by our friends at the Pentagon. Remember the people who brought you Korea? That's right, the U.S. Army. If it's being done correctly, here or abroad, it's probably not being done by the Army.

In honor of Robin Williams, I've decided to forsake the rules and simple post a lot of what made him special to us: his humor and ability to make us laugh!!

Genie: [turns into a cheerleader] Rick 'em, rack 'em, rock 'em, rake! Stick that sword into that snake!
Jafar: You stay out of this!
Genie: [Weakly] Jafar, Jafar, he's our man; if he can't do it, great!

When Christopher Reeve was in the hospital after his accident, Robin came to visit him. Reeve said this about that surprise visit:
Then, at an especially bleak moment, the door flew open and in hurried a squat fellow with a blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent. He announced that he was my proctologist, and that he had to examine me immediately...it was Robin Williams...for the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay.
When Stephan Spielberg was filming "Schindler's List", Robin would call him to cheer him up. I think I only called him once, maybe twice. I called him when I was representing People for the Valdheimers Association. A society devoted to helping raise money to help older Germans who had forgotten everything before 1945. I remember him laughing and going 'thank you.'"

Really? I've been in many bars around the world and it's mostly the same thing in all of them: Just people drinking to get drunk.

Airport bars are the weird exception. A glass of wine? You fool, for that 22 dollars you could have got three Jack and Cokes. Airports just aren't fun places to drink yet still I try to make them so.

Oh, and THIS, the day after I return to Hawaii...

I dunno, some of us have been around, on and off, for a decade. I was in college at the time, and am certainly on the other side of the "have wife and kid" side of the equation.

Moreover, are we getting beer? Is that a thing we can do?

Although I've never been in the business lounge I'll typically bump up to first class and enjoy free booze away from the peasants in back.

I enjoy cooking, though I have a set of four recipes that I cook, with my lazy days being filled with frozen pizzas or hotdogs.

The only part I hate is cleaning the dishes...

After living in a Navy barracks for the last couple years I can't recommend anything better than having a George Foreman grill.

I'm lucky enough to have PPV out here in Norfolk, and none of my recipes can be done on a George Foreman. I literally only need a stove and oven and I'm set. Dishes don't even take me that long, maybe 15-20 minutes depending on what I made. I'm just really lazy when it comes to dishes

Lucky you. All of my potential roommates for renting (you wouldn't believe the cost of living in Hawaii) have been declined. There are some side perks; as a 7 year E5 it's now at the point that nobody bothers me at the barracks. Hell, it wasn't too long ago that a Warrant 4 and I drank a six pack in the joint and started telling sea stories.
