The Man with the Laughs

Gooooooooood-byyyyyyye Vietnaaaaam! That's right, I'm history... I'm outta here. I got the lucky ticket home, baby. Rollin, rollin, rollin'... keep them wagons rollin', rawhide! Yeah, that's right... the final Adrian Cronauer broadcast... and this one is brought to you by our friends at the Pentagon. Remember the people who brought you Korea? That's right, the U.S. Army. If it's being done correctly, here or abroad, it's probably not being done by the Army.

In honor of Robin Williams, I've decided to forsake the rules and simple post a lot of what made him special to us: his humor and ability to make us laugh!!

Genie: [turns into a cheerleader] Rick 'em, rack 'em, rock 'em, rake! Stick that sword into that snake!
Jafar: You stay out of this!
Genie: [Weakly] Jafar, Jafar, he's our man; if he can't do it, great!

When Christopher Reeve was in the hospital after his accident, Robin came to visit him. Reeve said this about that surprise visit:
Then, at an especially bleak moment, the door flew open and in hurried a squat fellow with a blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent. He announced that he was my proctologist, and that he had to examine me immediately...it was Robin Williams...for the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay.
When Stephan Spielberg was filming "Schindler's List", Robin would call him to cheer him up. I think I only called him once, maybe twice. I called him when I was representing People for the Valdheimers Association. A society devoted to helping raise money to help older Germans who had forgotten everything before 1945. I remember him laughing and going 'thank you.'"

Europa Barbarorum II release date set for August 2014. Pretty newsworthy for Rome, MedII and Rome II if you ask me. I can write up a little piece for the newsy if you like, as I did at one point work on it.

I see that Terikel has rectified that EOJ. I am just waiting for a random female viewer to see this and think we are a bunch of creeps. Hahaha

So Spain have done terribly this year. Although Australia has lost their 2 matches thus far, i think the general consensus is that they have done really well and played to their best considering it is such a young squad and there are very few World Cup veterans. I watched the Australia Vs Chile game, and it was a great example of excellently played soccer all round.

Australia also produced the best goal yet. Your winger Leckie looks a real talent, caused the Dutch all sorts of problems.

Cahill's goal was excellent. Superb, even.

Well done, Straya!

Yeah, they've done very well! Chilie too, a real dark horse. I still prefer RVP's for now I think, because I've seen a few like Cahill's but not many like RVP's.

On an unrelated note, there's a new chapter of my book in the Bardic Circle if anyone's interested.

Stay as safe as possible Hannibal, my thoughts are with you as well.

Terrible situation in so many parts of the world at the moment. Many if us really take it for granted that we live in a stable environment where our biggest worry is money- instead of losing our lives.

On another note, downloaded all of the Beatles albums the other day and have been listening though. DAMN they made some good music!

All we need is Carthage and this might be one of my favorite themes

There you go, Punic.

Trifecta complete.

Though I must admit the place has really gone to shit. A lot of patching, stucco work, and maybe a few coats of paint would help spiff it up somewhat.

Some roofs might help, too. And doors and windows for when the neighbors are noisy.

I was making a comment concerning Carthage, the village now depicted in the Opening Post under the tasty morsels of arena bait I discovered, and immediately under that obscenely obese Englishman Swampy added.

It never did get over my last visit there, did it?

Possibly some newer walls too, and a good sweep and swab. Should be a nice weekend project, don't you think?
