The Man with the Laughs

Gooooooooood-byyyyyyye Vietnaaaaam! That's right, I'm history... I'm outta here. I got the lucky ticket home, baby. Rollin, rollin, rollin'... keep them wagons rollin', rawhide! Yeah, that's right... the final Adrian Cronauer broadcast... and this one is brought to you by our friends at the Pentagon. Remember the people who brought you Korea? That's right, the U.S. Army. If it's being done correctly, here or abroad, it's probably not being done by the Army.

In honor of Robin Williams, I've decided to forsake the rules and simple post a lot of what made him special to us: his humor and ability to make us laugh!!

Genie: [turns into a cheerleader] Rick 'em, rack 'em, rock 'em, rake! Stick that sword into that snake!
Jafar: You stay out of this!
Genie: [Weakly] Jafar, Jafar, he's our man; if he can't do it, great!

When Christopher Reeve was in the hospital after his accident, Robin came to visit him. Reeve said this about that surprise visit:
Then, at an especially bleak moment, the door flew open and in hurried a squat fellow with a blue scrub hat and a yellow surgical gown and glasses, speaking in a Russian accent. He announced that he was my proctologist, and that he had to examine me immediately...it was Robin Williams...for the first time since the accident, I laughed. My old friend had helped me know that somehow I was going to be okay.
When Stephan Spielberg was filming "Schindler's List", Robin would call him to cheer him up. I think I only called him once, maybe twice. I called him when I was representing People for the Valdheimers Association. A society devoted to helping raise money to help older Germans who had forgotten everything before 1945. I remember him laughing and going 'thank you.'"

There were 36 of us sitting, including 3 from a nearby school and they only sent 33.

It benefited me greatly in fairness, I was planning on blagging my way through that exam but it gave me a key 12 hours revision time.

Apparently they wanted to put us under some 'quarantine' procedure so we couldn't cheat by making us stay at various teachers houses but 36 people meant that was practically impossible, so they just told us to go home and come back 9am the next morning.

I err, may or may not have looked on student room that night...

Speaking of BUTTS, that was great and the field was amazing to shoot on, if perhaps a little too sunny Shame you didn't go. I also saw Birmingham's rather odd ritual for the first time
It's not the field we usually shoot on, I haven't had the pleasure of shooting on that one Yes, it is a rather interesting ritual, and it gives person closest to 222 something to eat later BUCS was fun, didn't exactly make an impact but a big learning experience!

I just managed to bang my knee screaming the house down after Tahiti just scored in the Confederations Cup.

I'm so proud.

General Rawlinson- This is most unsatisfactory. Where are the Sherwood Foresters? Where are the East Lancashires on the right?

Brigadier-General Oxley- They are lying out in No Man's Land, sir. And most of them will never stand again.

Could they not just photocopy the exam questions?

I once shot at a field in Norfolk (this is a scout camp, back in the old days when I was a scout and not a young leader) and we had to stop every 20 minutes because the train would go past at the back of the field.

I've got 3 uni open days within a week of eachother. It's going to be hectic.

I did no exercise through school or 6th form outside of lunchtime football, and I could play the 45 minutes or so of 6-ish-a-side no problem. I guess that's a reasonable amount of exercise, but at the time I considered myself totally unfit.

Fast forward 7 years and by contrast I was a beacon of health. We play 5-a-side once a week on Friday if we can get the numbers and after 20 minutes I'm totally broken, and this is playing vs 30-40 somethings who are themselves reasonably unfit (and not too mobile). 4 years of really seriously burning the candle at both ends through uni has ruined me.
