Given that I often discuss religion, politics, philosophy, etc, with Lord Eddie, I am glad you toned down your views accordingly to an open forum.

I'm going to be away for a fair chunk of the next month. I should be able to have internet access most days for most of it though, so should be alright

The forum was pretty active when I first joined, but for some reason it's dead now.

Also, I can't really play any alt. history games because I'm going to be very busy in August, preparing for my finals. I might play, but I won't dedicate much of my time to researching things and the like.

A couple forummers (like myself) are busy with work or studies at the moment, but I'm sure activity will pick up a bit once people get back from vacationing. There's also the release of Rome 2 around the corner and it's all but certain that it will inject a good shot of life back in the forums with newcomers and people from around HG coming in to ask for help or discuss strategies.

I was finally going to get through my first winter in Don't Starve, when a giant deer thing comes along and kills me, just after it destroyed nearly everything. Going to start reading the wiki more in future I think because I'm pretty annoyed by that.

It doesn't include all the costs of maintaining a monarchy and the buildings etc, which amounts to a bit over �40m per year.

You'd need to maintain the buildings anyway.

If you haven't seen Pacicific Rim yet I'd say do so. It's actually very good. The comedic portions of the movie are a bit ham fisted since Guillermo del Torro doesn't have much experience with comedy and probably did not know how to scale those particular scenes. In every other way it's quite impressive.

You'd need to maintain the buildings anyway.

Thats why I build engineer posts and prefectures at the end of every street. Sorry, just reinstalled Caeser3 and have been playing it for a week straight.

My old CD of Caesar 3 doesn't work any more, for some reason. I spent a lot of time playing it.

Invasion maps, or economic ones? I liked the diversion of periodic attacks, myself.

Don't Starve is definately good game but its a little difficult if you don't read up on most the stuff like me, though bar the frustration like above it's more fun in my opinion. It is all my fault though, so I can't realy blame the game for that. It's a bit tedious starting again from the beginning if you die in a game lasting longer than a week, since you are nearly always have the same sort of start but after that your area and monster problems differ from game to game, so it gets better later. Its certainly worth it if you have the money spare.

That doesn't help much when you screw up though does it

I was playing FTL the other day and was heading towards the end with probably my best decked out ship - unfortunately I was absolutely *not* paying attention and blew up an enemy ship I had two crew members on. The loss of those guys meant I went from a very strong position to a pretty weak one - all my fault, but it was still pretty hard to swallow since it meant I had to start over.

Caesar III is a decent game, I used to play it on my parents' Windows 98 - not all that many years ago in fact, of course. How time flies... I preferred the military maps, because at that age, naturally the coolest thing about the Romans is their legions.

I was debating getting Caesar IV recently...

That's my point Jax, it's fun for me not knowing everything in the game, but I can't really blame the game for being hard and stuff if I don't read up on it.

I never really used the teleporter in FTL, partially because the first time I used it I used it on the capital ship and it took of with several crew members. I lost on the next battle

Something that was out of my control though, I was playing DoD the other day, nearly completed Level 10 and the game crashed. I didn't bother loading up again.

I always make sure to get the teleporter (and ideally a pair of mantis, but two non-engi guys will do) just because against the last ship you can kill the guys manning the missile and ion launchers and they won't come back until the next battle.

Was just showing my bow of to someone and accidently dry fired it. Didn't half bruise my arm where the string hit it but I suppose I should be glad it's in one piece and I don't have a higher poundage.

Oh shit, didn't get that you meant Dredmor.

I've got my favourite build down pat with DoD but normally around level 6-7 I end up exploding myself or get a little over eager ("hey i bet NOW I can survive putting a lutefisk cube in a lutefisk cube!").

The last game I started before I lost interest was my first "no permadeath" game. I'm on floor 5, but it finally was becoming a bit of a grind so I canned it in.

Civ 5 is pretty cool! graphics are decent and the gameplay is good. Although i am not sure i like how you have to buy tiles for your empire...

Civ 5 is pretty good. The graphics are amazing, but gameplay isn't much because it gets boring eventually since by then it's not about being smart about your moves but just nuking the crap out of everything.
