Hello RTWH, an oldie here from 2004 coming back to reminisce! I have invited a whole bunch of old forummers by email to post in this thread with life updates and talk about old times. This place was very formative for me personally in RL, as for others.
Kids, marriages, jobs, trips, old memories? Post 'em here!

Well hello you lovely people, haven't times changed?
Is not despairing of the political state of this world the main reason mainy of us delve into historical strategy games, as if we could through mystic means change the events and lead the world to a new and brighter future, under our totalitarian yet beneficial rule as Master of All I See?

Well, fancy that. I just came on today to see how the old forum is doing for the first time in about 11-12 years and saw this thread. Terikel kindly helped me sort out my password.
Good god, I remember this place. It's really really nice to see you all.
I think I was about 16-17 when I last posted here. I'm now 28, in a very happy civil partnership for almost a year now, and living in London. Wrapping up the end of my PhD in Russian history, which (frankly) is not going so well, but could be worse.
Is Legio Yow still around? I always used to enjoy reading his posts, and DFV's - though I understand DFV disappeared some time ago. I still have really old copy-pastes of mebertus's more elaborate political posts as well saved on my hard drive!

Been years since I've seen a post from either of them, Hell3ent, ArchDruid, Nelson, or anyone else from 06-08 that was regularly active.
I actually did a forum search earlier and even though a lot of stuff made me cringe (those IJ threads), there were many threads and posts from the old days that hit me with a mountain of nostalgia and brought a smile to my face.
Ahhh, to be young and not worry about paying bills or car/health/dental/vision insurance.
Edit - I do keep in touch with a few people from back in the day on Facebook. I regularly tag EoJ in historical memes and Total War related things, and misplaced is enjoying a sojourn in Italy.

To be really honest, looking back at my own 15/16-year-old posts does make me cringe quite heavily, so I don't really feel like I'm in a position to cringe at anyone else :P. IJ was something else though. I'd like to know how he turned out.

Yes! I think this place did me a lot of good. The quality of the discussion here at its best is something I took very much for granted and haven't really found in my internet travels since. I read through one of DFV's old threads on counter-insurgencies yesterday. It felt really nice.

Haha I wasn't cringing only at IJ but how I and a few others acted in his threads as well.

I feel the same way about a lot of forummers I sadly lost touch with over the years.

I agree completely. I never found another online community that 'clicked' with me as much as TWH or HG. Even though there's very little activity on the forums for me to moderate anymore, besides banning the occasional spambot, I like to keep watch over this place as a way of showing it how thankful I am for helping me meet the friends I made here.

It's a pity this place is so quiet now, but I guess times change, people move on. These forums look so archaic these days, and they weren't spring chickens when I was active here.
Still in contact with one or two people I met here, and glad to see I appear to have matured significantly based on my teenage scrawlings. I mean we all do (hopefully) but it's nice to have it confirmed.
Archaic reminds me of places where treasures were hidden.
I guess, in that sense, the word does apply here. Surely there are some gems hidden among the many runes that adorn these halls.

Kromo - I think you have much less to cringe at than most. You were always nice and mature! Good to see you back.
