"Rome 2 will deliver a darker vision of war"
It talks a bit about the Rezzed presentation.
The campaign map will be "much larger" than in Rome 1. There will be barbarian tribes in the northern forests, there will be "exotic" Eastern kingdoms in the deserts and there will of course be Rome itself.
That will amount to a "huge variety of fighting styles, cultures and environments".
There will be political rivalries of the Senate, and political rivalries within families. Rome 2 wants, like Pinocchio, to be human.
And an interview with Mike Simpson after that said interview.
It deals with everything from the angle they're taking with this game (which we discussed ourselves in a different thread, actually, looks like they're heading towards RTR like we thought they would be), to modding, to pigs. LoH spotted it first, I missed his thread >.<

About the first article, am I the only one the fears that they may be over their heads?

I think that remains to be seen, but I hope they're able to use what they've learned in making over half a dozen games and apply it in making R2TW.

Sounds like the Seleucid Empire should be larger, and potentially then it was in the original Rome with extended map. It might help if Egypt aren't some kind of unhistorical awesome Kingdom of butthurt either. Considering how well they have represented minor nations from Empire onward it should be interesting to see how many 'minor factions' there are in Rome II, instead of a lot of them just being lumped in a Rebels faction like in Rome.

I've heard there will be 50 or so factions, though it isn't entirely confirmed. Based on an article that a German (I think) reporter made in his interview with a CA dev. This is great news and sounds like there won't be a 'Rebels' faction anymore.

Yes, that'd be really good when you get to clan-populated areas too
